Page 1 of 2 It was high drama and fisticuffs as two teams with a lot to prove in the Premier Division took to the pitch at Sardis Road. A packed terrace indicated what an appatite there is for Friday night rugby (take note Powers That Be!).
Cries of "lets rattle the Sospans" could be heard and Pontypridd drew the line from early on, but unfortuntly chances could not be capatalised on. Pontypridd maintained the lions share of possession, but Llanelli's tenacity could not be compromised. With Ebbw Vale facing a few hard matches (including Llanelli and Newport), Ponty fans will have to rely on them slipping up, and our game in hand to carry us through to the final games of the division to win it. I'd put my money on the final home game against Bridgend to decide the whole league, and if so we will need a packed Sardis! C'mon Ponty Army! Roll on the Cup Quarter Finals! C'MON PONTY!!!! OLÉ! A remarkable touchline sprint led Pontypridd to put their dominance on the scoreboard, thanks to Lawrence Price and a Dai Flanigan conversion. Lanelli replied with a penalty but it appeared the stalemate was ended. The second half amped up the tempo, as a string of Pontypridd substitutes put the dynamic powerhouse of Wayne Evans and Tom Riley on the pitch. And as is so often with Insane Wayne, quick hands and even quicker feet allowed him to slip through a frantic Llanelli defence to touch down, with Flan converting. The only sore point was a bit of loose defense in the dying minutes that led to Lanelli scoring a consolation try, but considering these two teams have been comparable at many points this season, you would not expect the opposition to take it lying down.
