"IT was tight, hard rugby with heroic tackling on both sides and the result was as close as wing Kristian Baller's injury-time penalty that hit a post and bounced away to leave battling Glamorgan Wanderers with another big scalp."

Or so says the Wales On Sunday. But I was there, and cannot say I saw much to support this. What I did see was a bunch of players with their eyes on bigger salaries elsewhere. No pride. No passion. Players like Dafydd Lockyear seem more concerned with gloryboy antics than securing wide, expansive chances from overlaps. We threw that game away.

All save for stalwarts Nathan Strong and Dale Macintosh. The debaclé at Maesteg turned into a farce at Glamorgan Wanderers, with no drive to do the job that needed to be done. You can tell a game has gone awry when captain Strongy decides to try to win the game singlehandedly through a failed drop goal. But then again, he is a number 8. Not to take anything away from him however...I just wish he had a go at all the kicks (of which there were many) that Ponty had on offer. At least Nathan was on target (the distance let him down). Pocock was shocking, and Baller not much better.

Is this it for the season then? Have the players hung up their boots and decided that throwing the ball straight into touch, and keeping their eyes off the game is more of a lark than securing the damn ball and keeping basic skills alive. Regardless, over the last three weeks, Pontypridd have proved that there is no reason to offer the glory of silverwear to the Sardis faithfull.

The fans have been through the mill, and we have been let down. Badly.
