Page 2 of 2 The conveyor belt starts to turn again at Pontypridd as Youth Players are invited to train with Senior Squad. Congratulations to Pontypridd Youth's Centre Dan Dearden and Blindside Flanker Jonathan Reid on being invited to train with the senior squad for the remainder of the season. Both are two of the older players in our youth squad and it is hoped that more youth players will join them as they too get older. (Most the current Youth squad still aged at under 17's)
Both players impressed the Ponty players and coaches, making a huge impression in training last week; with Deardon looking a real contender as a possible future replacement for Lockyer should he depart in the summer as anticipated? It has been ten years since the reformation of the Pontypridd Mini & Junior Section and this is the first season that Pontypridd has had a Youth team in that time. Many of the current youth squad were among the first players to join up at Under 8's and their involvment in the senior squad is a huge accolade for those involved in junior rugby at the club.
