So it comes to this. Three games to play, and three games to win in order to finish in the top slot of the Principality Rugby Division. And three tough games to boot. Will Pontypridd set the record straight? Will the recent bad form become a thing of the past. Maybe and maybe not. Something tells me that the former Pontypridd players who took us to cup glory last year with have more to play than ever before.
The squad the Pontypridd will field today is filled with talent. The likes of Flanigan, Wayne Evans and Tom Riley will couple with the ferocity of Rhys Shellard, who plays hid first match since Decmember in a black and white strip. These players are going through the ranks to professional status with the Blues, and we have a rare opertunity to get arguably the best Pontypridd squad since the Warriors folded onto the pitch today.
Unlike other members of the squad which are off to pastures greener
(and by that I mean greenbacks), the Academy players have full time
jobs with the city team. They don't need to turn up to play for Ponty,
but I hope and pray that their professionalism is a yardstick by which
the soon to be Pontypridd exiles are marked.
This is not a joke for many, and the much needed cash injection that a league win will bring is mandatory. The club needs this, and the fans need this. We can and will beat Neath for pride. And if we don't...well I'll have to buy a Blues jersey. Please, don't make me joke about such serious repercussions.
