Page 1 of 3 Congratulations to former Pontypridd favourite and Trealaw resident Morgan Stoddart on his selection at fullback for Llanelli Scarlets in their Heineken Cup clash against Ulster.
Morgan represented Rhondda Districts from under 11’s to under 15’s and developed into a quality player under the influence of Chris Jones. He played his club rugby at Treorchy through Junior, youth and senior level, before travelling down to Sardis for the 2004/2005 season. Morgan particularly stood out for Ponty during the 2005/06 season and was a key player in the 2006 Konica Minolta Cup final victory over Neath. With Barry Davies injured and Ceiron Thomas struggling with form, the 22-year-old gets his chance. Stoddart signed a regional deal from Pontypridd RFC in the summer and has been in outstanding form for Llanelli RFC since recovering from a broken leg. "Morgan deserves his chance," said Llanelli director of rugby Phil Davies. "He's been in great form for the semi-pro side. He's strong and elusive and offers us something different." Morgan added: "It's a big step up but it's a challenge I can't wait for, hopefully I can rise to the occasion." Add as favourites (40) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 1508
