One thing you can say in Newport's favour is that they bring a cracking crowd with them. The Sardis Road car park was full to the brim and despite the pockets of sunshine this game is no laughing manner. Pontypridd have serious defensive issues and the only thing that prevented Newport's series of dangerous breaks from having impact was a lack of support from the visitors backs. Going into the second half Newport lead by a conversion, 5 - 7.
