Who can forget the Dutch Dukes visit to Sardis at the end of last season?

The sound of a hundred clogs making their way through the club car park, the abundance of singing and dancing, lets not forget the rugby… They were fantastic ambassadors for Dutch rugby and a good weekend was had by all.

 

Well this coming week please give a warm Ponty welcome to Frank van den Heuvel and Bert Damen, two of the Dukes coaches who return for a busy week and to pay a personal visit to Pontypridd RFC.

Whilst visiting they hope to learn about rugby development at Pontypridd RFC and in the rest of the region. For those who would like to catch them or be involved in the visit their itinerary is below. So if you here clogs coming up the street please make them welcome…

 

 

Monday 6th November

 

Frank and Bert arrive Cardiff airport 10.40pm where they will be met by delegates from Pontypridd RFC before transferring to their accommodation in Ynyshir.

 

Tuesday 7th November

 

They will attend a coaching session with Ben Rose (Development Officer) at Beddau Primary school at 2pm followed by a training session with Simon King and the Pontypridd Premiership side from 6 - 8.30pm.

 

Wednesday 8th November

 

It is hoped they will attend the Blues Academy training with Ben Rose in the morning before training with the University of Glamorgan from 1–4.00pm, led by Steve Savage and Paul Rainer, with the option of watching a university rugby match at 2pm. The day doesn’t end there, in the evening they are invited to attend the Premiership match between Glamorgan Wanderers and Newport KO 7pm.

 

Thursday 8th November

 

An early morning will see Frank and Bert attend Blues Academy training before watching a Schools TAG Rugby Tournament at Maritime Astroturf 1–3.00pm. In the evening they will again attend training with Simon King and Pontypridd 6–8.00pm.

 

Friday 9th November

 

The morning will see them visit the Millennium Stadium with Mr Peter Owens (WRU). Followed by Training with the University of Glamorgan 1–4.00pm led by Paul Rainer. In the evening will be the highlight of their visit, the Premiership clash at Stradey Park between Llanelli and Pontypridd, KO 7pm.

 

Saturday 10th November

On international day they will attend UWIC (NIAC) Cyncoed Campus from 8am with Blues Development Manager Richard Hodges, before spending the day in Cardiff with a chance to take in the scenes and experience an international day in the capital. The day will culminate in watching the international match between Wales and the Pacific Islands at the Millennium Stadium, 2-30pm.

 

Sunday 11th November

 

On their final day Frank and Bert will be the opportunity to attend a WRU Level 1 Coaching Course at Abercynon RFC from 9.00am to 4.00pm, before flying home at 7pm.
