This season will see the return of two Pontypridd Youth teams, the Pontypridd Junior Youth (under 17's) and the Pontypridd Senior Youth (under 19's).

Both Ponty Youth squads will be working closely with the Pontypridd senior squad over the coming season, with plans to hold joint training sessions under the guidance of Simon King and Paul John, and with senior players personally assisting with the development of their youth counterparts. The Youth teams will also hope to play some home games at Sardis Road, as the fixture list and ground conditions allow.

Pontypridd Junior Youth

The Pontypridd Youth under 17s squad is appealing for any eligible players interested to join in with their training sessions, with a view to representing the team over the coming season.

The core of last year's very successful under 16 squad has been retained, but the coaches are searching for another four or five players to bolster their options. This age group squad will also be linked to the full Pontypridd RFC Youth team which is being reinstated this season.

The Pontypridd RFC under 17s will be competing this season in the Taff Rhondda Youth B league. Players eligible will need to be aged over 16 but under 17 as of 31st August 2006 to qualify. Training sessions are held at Taff Vale Park on Thursday evenings between 7pm and 8:45pm.

Pontypridd Senior Youth

Preparations are currently in hand to put together a squad for the age group, with the core of the new youth set up progressing from last season's Pontypridd under 17s, and with an appeal for any new players interested to get in touch as soon as possible. Players will be eligible for the new Ponty Youth within the 16 to 19 year old age group.

Ponty Senior Youth train on Tuesday evenings and any new players interested in coming along as trialists are invited to call coach Andrew Watkins on 07886 709888.
