Page 1 of 2 On Friday 12th May the hardworking Pontypridd Under 8’s section took the opportunity to kick off their boots and put on their Sunday best clothes at the annual end of season presentation night.
A great night was had by all and a chance to thank the hard work of the players, supporters and parents of the Under 8’s section.
The weather was warm, the beer/cola was cold and the atmosphere was hot with anticipation as to who was up for the Player of the Year (U8s), Player of the Year (U7s), Most improved player (U7s and U8s). Dean Price (Head Coach) gave a run down of the teams highs and lows throughout the season and some great statistics - overall we scored 214 tries, only conceeding 147.
All the team were then given a trophy by Neil Jenkins to thank them for being part of a great squad throughout the year. Dean's speech finally over, the thoughts turned to the other awards. In the end, it was a close call, and as Dean rightly said - all of the children were winners on the night, but the parents had voted for ...
U8 Player of the Year - Gruffydd Lloyd
U8 Most Improved Player - Lucas Hickman
U7 Player of the Year - Jay Jones
U7 Most Improved Player - Rhys Britton
A massive thank you to everyone who has helped out (no matter how big or small) throughout the season, as we could not have done it without the support of all of the parents, coaches or especially the children.
The section had a final send off when most of the Ponty 1st team popped in and happily signed loads of shirts, programmes etc (thanks to them for being great ambassadors on the night).
Note to all players: Don't forget that training starts again in August so watch this space for more regular updates from your favourite side (Ponty - OLE!!)…
