Page 1 of 2 The annual Taff Rhondda District Under 10’s Tournament was held on Sunday 18th March at Sardis Road, Pontypridd. Six teams were entered from the region; Beddau, Gilfach Goch, Maerdy, Pontypridd, Rhydyfelin and Ystrad Rhondda. With Pontypridd proving to be deserving District Winners, after winning the competition outright without conceding a single point !!!
Group A contained Beddau, Rhydyfelin and Ystrad Rhondda with Ystrad emerging as winners and Rhydyfelen as runners up. Pontypridd were winners of Group B, Gilfach Goch claimed the remaining Semi Final Spot as runners up beating Maerdy. The first Semi Final saw Ystrad Rhondda defeat Gilfach Goch 14 - 7. In the second Semi Pontypridd defeated Rhydyfelin 14 - 0. A well contested final then followed with Pontypridd emerging as winners by 14 – 0 over Ystrad Rhondda. With Pontypridd proving to be deserving Pontypridd Taff Rhondda District Winners, winning the competition outright without conceding a point! Pontypridd Results: Group Stages:- Pontypridd 42 – 0 Maerdy TRY scorers for Pontypridd were Ben Stephens (2), Greg Mogford, Aled Evans, Lewis Cullen and James Stallard. Conversions were kicked by Greg Mogford (3), Lewis Cullen and Dewi Morris. Pontypridd 31 – 0 Gilfach Goch TRY scorers for Pontypridd were James Stallard (2), Lewis Cullen, Ben Stephens and Aled Evans. Conversions were kicked by Dewi Morris (3). Semi Final Pontypridd 14 – 0 Rhydyfelin TRY scorers for Pontypridd were Aled Evans and James Stallard. Conversions were kicked by Grant Jones and Drew Cummings Final Pontypridd 14 – 0 Ystrad Rhondda TRY scorers for Pontypridd were James Stallard and Rhidian Spencer. Conversions were kicked by Dewi Morris and Killian Kingston. Pontypridd under 10’s would like to say a big thank you to the mothers who spent the majority of Mothers Day beneath the scoreboard serving food and beverages. We would also like to thank the club for the use of the facilities and for hosting the event. Finally we would like to thank the other Pontypridd age grade teams who returned from their away matches at Tondu to support the tournament.
