After an early start the players were keen to get on to the pitch and had the luck of the draw to play in the opening game of the u’7’s tournament. Having to get used to the differences with the English rugby laws, Pontypridd gave away quite a lot of penalties and had a few tries disallowed, but with their unrelenting tagging defence, excellent support and running play went into their final game with joint top point scorers Silhillians. It turned out to be the hardest and best game of the tournament, and with typical fanatical support from the parents on the touchlines drowning out the oppositions chants with the sounds of ole’ ole’, Pontypridd ran in victorious at the final whistle 6 tries to 4 and eventual deserved winners of the u’7’s tournament.
