Under 8’s Pontypridd 40 - 20 Pontyclun
A try-fest for Ponty in a thrilling game to watch.
The team had another memorable performance today, pulling out all the stops and showing some true class as their skill and confidence on the ball showed through. First to secure his name on the score-sheet was Rhys Grainger with a dash around their defensive line and a touchdown in the corner. Rhys also played a part in Ponty's second try, as he sprinted down the touchline, popped a quick pass to Josh Barnes who quickly offloaded the ball to Dafydd Smith for a well worked team try. Lucas Hickman then scored an unusual try for him (not his usual "length of the pitch runs")- he was in the middle of the line and a matter of metres away from the line when he was passed the ball and jinked and darted his way through the defence to place the ball and score. Mason Pritchard was next to score as he threw one of his famous dummies and darted over for a score. Owain Morris placed the ball down on what he thought was the try line but unfortunately he was still 5 metres out. This didn't put him off though - the next play he had a great run right down the line and went over for a brilliant individual try.
Callum Pearce was given the ball as a result of some really quick passing and capitalised by going over for his first of the day. Callum’s next try was pure team work - Harley Jones made a great run through the defence and quickly popped the ball up to Callum who shot through to score once again. Ponty's last try came from quick thinking by Mason - Ponty were pegged back near their line and at the tap ball, Mason saw a huge gap down the touchline. He quickly tapped the ball and passed to Lucas who lit up the touchline as he belted past and scored for the final play of the day.

Under 8’s Development Pontypridd 25 – 15 Pontyclun
The younger lads put on a great show for their parents today and came away with a tremendous win.
Jay Jones was on fire today as he put in 4 of Ponty's 5 triesand showed he was just as good in defence by tagging everything. Jay captalised on some loose ball, quickly picked it up and went over for his first of the day. Amongst the other tries he scored he darted around the outside of their defence for two of them, and sprinted down the touchline for the other. Owain Morris came on at half time and made a superb run from one end to the other and scored right in the corner. The boys had around 4-5 turnovers which shows how their tagging has improved. This will be the team to beat when they move up under 8’s next season.
