Under 8’s Llantrisant 20 – 40 Pontypridd

It seems like every week the match report starts off with "this was the one of the best team performances that he U8s have played so far". Well, this week's match report is no different. The boys put in a first class show, from the first kick to the last try. Llantrisant didn't get any useful first half possession as our attacking players used the rushing tactic to force Llantrisant back at every opportunity. Great tagging then led to 3-4 turnovers. Rhys Grainger showed a level head when the try he thought he scored was disallowed by the ref as it wasn't over the try line (much to the disappointment of the Ponty supporters!). After another push forward the boys had a tap ball just a few yards from the try line, so the tried and tested 'Fiji' move was played to great effect throwing all the Llantrisant defence off guard and Dafydd sprinted over for a good try. 

Llantrisant fought back and found a gap in our defence which saw a length of the pitch run and a try in the corner with Owain Morris in hot pursuit. Straight from the restart, Mason Pritchard threw the biggest dummy so far of the season (surely he's in the running for a trophy for that one) and sprinted right down the touchline for a superb try. A matter of minutes later, Mason threw another brilliant dummy and ran down the line only to be tagged just inches from the line. Mason quickly tapped the ball and threw a long pass to Callum who offloaded the ball to Dafydd who ran over for a brilliant team try.  Another quick tap resulted in a great break by Gruffydd Lloyd who charged off down the line for a great score. Callum Pearce finished off the last play of the match with the team's last try.

Under 8’s Development Llantrisant 0 – 15 Pontypridd

The boys looked as thought they picked up where the U8s left off in the previous match and played a really good game of rugby. The rushing tactic was well used in the game, pinning Llantrisant back and forcing them to run backwards.  Jay Jones used his quick feet to dance past the defence and sprint over for the opening try in the corner. New to the team was Samuel, who showed he was up for a good game as he made some really good runs, one of them resulting in his debut try. Daniel Griffiths also played really well with a well worked try.
