Ponty Under 10’s V Pencoed Under 10’s The boys turned up at Coed y Lan school fields with revenge on their minds. Pencoed having inflicted their only defeat this season. With both teams having large squads it was decided by the coaches during the week that there would be two games played today. Ponty who normally have ample players to choose from were hit by illness before kick off with 3 of their regular players unable to attend, which left only 13 boys to play two games against a strong Pencoed side who turned up with 19 players. The boys met on a miserable wet grey day which was not the ideal conditions for this season’s usual running rugby. The squads of both teams from all age groups lined up to preserve a minutes silence at 11 o clock and not a sound was heard for the full minute. Well done to all. Pontypridd U9’s 30 Mountain Ash U9’s 5 Mountain Ash arrived in Ponty to a cold, blustery and showery greeting, both teams were unbeaten so far this season and as such the dark clouds mirrored the sense of apprehension amongst the supporters prior kick off. It was nice to see however, rivalries put aside and the teams unite for a minute’s silence in recognition of sad and sombre times gone past. The boys have been building their performances throughout the season and as Callum ‘Tucker’ Hall led his players onto the pitch, everyone was hoping they could continue their development today. CWMBRAN UNDER 10’S 5 PONTYPRIDD UNDER 10’S 30 The morning started early for Pontypridd at Sardis Road all ready for their last minute away trip to Cwmbran. Darren Pritchard lead the convoy of cars with the destination postcode input into his sat nav, there was no stopping him. We arrived at Cwmbran and started a light warm up. Only to be told we were at the wrong pitch. Yes Darren’s trusty sat nav not only took us via Abertillery but also to the wrong pitch. In one mad hurry we scrambled to ours cars and after a mini tour of Cwmbran we finally found the ground. Comments (11) | Add as favourites (37) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 478 |

Pontypridd U9’S 55 Brecon 0 It’s not often that the boys get to play their home games at the ‘House of Pain’, but when they do the excitement felt by both players and spectators is magnified, and today, amidst glorious sunshine and bright blue skies, was no exception. The opponents were Brecon, no doubt with revenge on their mind as last season this team had produced probably their finest ever combination of individual skill and teamwork in winning the 9 team Brecon tournament. Certainly the Brecon coach was in a positive mood offering to have two games as he had a ‘strong squad’, a challenge readily and eagerly accepted by the Ponty team!
