In the most prestigious and oldest junior rugby tournament in the world Rhondda proved too strong for a determined Pontypridd in a hard fought and entertaining match.

Rhondda have won the group outright and now guaranteed a home semi-final berth whilst Ponty have to rely on Cynon Valley slipping up and losing their remaining fixture and then Ponty have to win away to Pembrokeshire?

Pontypridd Junior District Rugby Union, RCT County Council and Cardiff Blues are holding a master classes and district trials for all children who play club rugby at U12 – U14 level within the Pontypridd area.

Master Classes: 

U12s master class August 15^th at Dog Track Field, Hawthorn for players (Boys and Girls) born between September 1^st 1995 and August 31^st 1996.

U13s master class August 16^th at Dog Track Field, Hawthorn for players (Boys only) born between September 1^st 1994 and August 31^st 1995.

U14s master class August 17^th at Dog Track Field, Hawthorn for players (Boys only) born between September 1^st 1993 and August 31^st 1994.

Training will start at 2.00pm and finish at 4.00pm.

Trials:

U12s Trial August 29^th at Dog Track Field, Hawthorn for players (Boys and Girls) born between September 1^st 1995 and August 31^st 1996.

U13s Trial August 30^th at Dog Track Field, Hawthorn for players (Boys only) born between September 1^st 1994 and August 31^st 1995.

U14s Trial August 31^st venue TBC soon (Boys only) born between September 1^st 1993 and August 31^st 1994.

The trials will start at 2.00pm and finish at 4.00pm.

Rhondda 12 - 10 Bridgend

Rhondda retained the trophy after a hard game that saw Bidgend take a ten point lead to worry the holders. But an excellent fightback saw the Rhondda win again.

Congratulations to Chris Jones, Neil Boobyer and all involved with Rhondda District rugby, especially the players concerned, on a fine win and an outstanding achievement.
