Father-of-three Gareth , 28, of Glyncoch – known as Snid during his Pontypridd RFC days – broke his spine on Sunday playing for Neath against Cardiff.The thoughts of all involved at Pontypridd RFC and Teamponty.net are with Snid and his family at this worrying time...
Wayne Nowaczyk of the Pontypridd Observer reports that Snid underwent emergency surgery on Monday night after developing a blood clot on his brain. Surgery had been successful and the clot had been cleared but the player Is expected to undergo a major operation on his spine. Snid – who has a son, Coel and daughters Connie and Courtney – was stretchered off early in the second half of Neath’s 24-22 defeat. He was motionless on the pitch after a ruck and play was delayed for around 10 minutes while medical staff attended to him. Snid was taken to University Hospital of Wales, Heath, Cardiff where Initially he was described as being in a fairly stable condition; but he developed a blood clot in his brain and fell into a coma.
