Page 1 of 2 Simon King’s Wales U18’s have chosen a squad of 37 players in their initial preparations for a season that will culminate in the first U18 Six Nations tournament in Glasgow in April. Former Pontypridd under 16's player Gareth Capelin makes the initial squad.
The Cardiff area have the greatest representation with no fewer than 14 players, followed by Newport/Gwent who have 10, Llanelli have 7 and the Ospreys only 6; despite them winning the Reebok Regional Championship after their 22-15 win over Cardiff in the final at Llandovery a fortnight ago? The squad will train under head coach Simon King - assisted by Gethin Watts and Nicky Lloyd - but will be reduced to 26 at the end of the month before travelling to France for a warm-up game in Lille against a French Academies XV. After the game against the French Academy XV, Wales U18s play friendly matches against England, Italy and Ireland before the grand finale Six Nations Festival in Glasgow April 8-14.
