At home, Pontypridd coaches Simon King and Paul John are helping with training sessions for the Cardiff Blues Academy squad that includes thirteen Ponty players!
Pontypridd coaches Simon King and Paul John have been invited to join in with the training sessions of the Blues Academy squad, in preparation for their home game against Leeds Tykes on Monday evening 5th November. The coaches will be well acquainted with the players in their charge, as it is expected that thirteen of the Academy team will be Ponty players. Five of Ponty's quota of full time Academy players - centre Tom Riley, outside half Dai Flanagan, prop Scott Roberts, hooker Duane Goodfield and back rower Adam Powell - are already committed to the Leeds game, having been stood down from Ponty's Welsh Cup tie away to Pontyberem the previous Saturday. They are expected to be joined by other club representatives such as full back Morgan Stoddart, centre Dafydd Lockyer, winger Daniel Hitchings, prop Ryan Harford, lock Chris Dicomidis and flanker Ben Rose for a light training session at the Arms Park on Monday afternoon, before the team is selected to play Leeds at the same venue, the game kicking off at 7:15 pm. Ponty flanker Rhys Shellard has meanwhile been called up at short notice to join the Wales national sevens squad, currently touring on the IRB sevens circuit. Shellard will join up with team mate, scrum half Wayne Evans, who featured in the Wales team who won the bowl competition of the Dubai Sevens. The Wales squad now move on to South Africa for the second leg of their international tour. Add as favourites (10) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 788
