Page 1 of 2 Pontypridd are drawn away to Cross Keys after they defeat Whitland 8-3...
North Wales minnows Nant Conwy have been handed a trip to Builth Wells of Division One in the fifth round of the Konica Minolta Cup. The Division Four North side are emulating Llangefni who made it to round six in 2003-04, and after beating Rhydyfelin, Tylorstown and Maesteg Quins in earlier rounds, they will fancy their chances against the Bulls. There are two definite all-Premier clashes with Aberavon hosting two-times winners Newport while Swansea will travel to the Memorial Ground to meet Glamorgan Wanderers. The Wizards beat Newport 39-7 at the Talbot Athletic Ground earlier in the league season while the All Whites routed the Wanderers 63-19 at St Helens last October. Cross Keys will meet Pontypridd, last year's beaten finalists, at Pandy Park in the third all-Premier tie. Llandovery, who knocked out holders and 13-times winners Llanelli in round three, have home advantage against the students of UWIC from Division One and they will be confident of making it to the last eight. Maesteg travel to either Dunvant or Penclawdd and both clubs will provide a stern test. The Broadacre side have only lost one league match this season and they sit proudly at the top of Two West, while Penclawdd's 4-0 win over Newport in the 1980-81 season still remains one of the biggest cup upsets of all time. The Cocklemen are unbeaten this season in Three West and top the division by five points. Premier leaders Neath entertain Division One side Llangennech at the Gnoll and in the final tie, Cardiff make the trip to high-flying Bonymaen. The Blue and Blacks beat them 23-13 last season in a fourth round clash at the Arms Park, but with Bonymaen unbeaten and racing away with the Division One title a trip to Parc Mawr will be fraught with danger for the struggling Premier side. Fifth Round Draw (ties to be played weekend of 17,18 and 19 February, 2006). Aberavon v Newport. Bonymaen v Cardiff. Builth Wells v Nant Conwy. Dunvant or Penclawdd v Maesteg. Glamorgan Wanderers v Swansea. Llandovery v UWIC. Neath v Llangennech. Cross Keys v Pontypridd. Add as favourites (20) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 767
