Page 1 of 3 Ponty just scrape it, in a tough encounter on a muddy field in atrocious weather at Sardis...
MATTHEW NUTHALL'S 79th-minute try helped Pontypridd snatch victory from the jaws of defeat at a sodden Sardis Road. Nuttall dived over to literally splash down for the winning score in the dying seconds as Ponty completed a remarkable second-half fight-back. All of which was hard lines on Keys who played by far the better rugby in the first 40 minutes and were good value for a 17-6 interval lead. Tries from McKee and Evans, plus two conversions and a penalty from Miles, put them in command. Miles added another three-pointer after the restart, but Ponty, who took a sixth-minute lead through a Dai Flanagan penalty, battled back in style. Morgan Stoddart and Nathan Strong crossed for tries, Flanagan converted one and even Dale McIntosh's sin-binning didn't punish them. Pontypridd: Tries - M Stoddart, N Strong, M Nuthall; Con - D Flanagan; Pens - Flanagan (2). Cross Keys: Tries - M McKee, D Evans; Cons - D Miles (2); Pens - Miles (2).
