"Insane" Wayne Is A Dragon
Written by John
Monday, 30 July 2007

Wayne Evans now a Dragon player. In what can only be described as evidence for Blues manager Dai Young's extreme stupidity, former Pontypridd scrum half Wayne Evans will be lining up in Dragons colours this season. The class act of Pontypridd's previous couple of seasons has obviously been made a better offer by the Newport region, and TeamPonty says Good Luck Butty.

Wayne has gone from strength to strength, and was a pivitol player in the 2005-06 season for Pontypridd. Injuries aside, his form has been fantastic, and recent outings for the Welsh Seven's squad in Twickenham and Murrayfield helped the national team to semi final positions in both tournaments. Anyone watching Evans in action on both days saw a true rugby talent.

Ponty Youth Promoted...
Written by Neil Hughes
Wednesday, 04 July 2007

Following an extremely successful inaugural season since reforming last summer, Pontypridd RFC Youth have been promoted out of the 9th BI Division to the 2nd BB division.

A promotion of 7 divisions in one season following their unprecedented success, having lost only one league match all season and beaten comfortably several teams in far higher leagues during friendlies throughout the year, including the previously undefeated 3rd division champions Canton. Several players from the youth squad now regularly train with the senior Pontypridd Premiership squad as the development of high quality players continues at Sardis Road.

Their place in the Development Division will be taken up by last season's Pontypridd RFC Under 16's in another new development at the club with the introduction of a second youth team known as the Junior Youth who hopefully will follow in the success of last season's youth who are now the Senior Youth and live up to the club's youth nickname of the Upstarts.

The Youth squad pre-season training is on Wednesday's at Taff Vale Park (Nile Steet, below Broadway) 7.15 till 9pm. There is an open invite for all Youth players aged under 19 on the 1st of September 2007 to join the squad for a trial.

Sad news...
Written by Neil Hughes
Tuesday, 03 July 2007

FROM www.ponty.net

The club has lost two of its most stalwart members over the past two weeks, and we want to pay brief tribute to both of them here. The latest loss is that of Haydn Jones, who died last Friday, and the week before we lost Bill Ellsmore. Both will be sadly missed by all at Pontypridd R.F.C.

All involved with PRFC and Teamponty.net send our utmost condolances and respect to the families of two outstanding gentlemen who were more than just stalwarts of the club.
