DISTRICT YOUTH CUP

Pontypridd Youth (1) 35 – 3 Pontypridd Youth (2)

The first round of this years District cup threw up the unlikeliest of draws, pitting the Pontypridd Youth senior team against their younger counterparts who are built around last season’s very successful under 16’s.

Viva La Argentina!

Agustin Pichot - Argentina Rejoice in the Rugby Wrold CupThere is something beguiling about watching the Argentine team on the rugby pitch. They have something that is so lacking in all of the other big teams in the upper echelons of world rugby. The likes of the home nations are devoid of one simple thing: Passion.

Passion for during a game as if it is the last to ever be played, passion for team work and camaraderie, and passion for the beautiful anticipation of a clock surely, and ultimately counting down to its end. This is passion that only the black sheep of the IRB Top Ten could display. And passion that is sorely lacking from Wales.

Argentina are in the very real prospect of getting a medal in the 6th Rugby World Cup. The quarter final match with Scotland should pose no real problem for the Pumas, owing to a lack in form from those north of Hadrian’s Wall, but that’s not to say they will be easy. However, they should put at least 40 points on them, if the fires are burning the way that they did against France and Ireland.

Nicky Little on the Lack of Welsh Skill
Written by John
Tuesday, 02 October 2007

In the warmup to Wales being knocked out of the Rugby World Cup, former Pontypridd and Fiji flyer Nicky Little shone light on why the Fijians are better than the overpaid Welsh squad.

"When I was at Pontypridd they didn't embarrass me with their ball skills like the Fiji boys in training do now. So we know we can beat them."

There you go...one Son of Sardis who doesn't think much of Welsh rugby. And who can blame him? Fiji knocked spots off Wales on Saturday.

Pontypridd - Cross Keys 6:22
Written by TP.NET Admin

Pontypridd suffered a shock defeat and ended a brief unbeaten run in the start of the the 2007-08 Premiership Season with a home defeat at Sardis Road to Cross Keys.

Pontypridd were firmly put in their place by the visitors, but old favourite Ref Nigel Whitehouse didn't help matters. Surely someone at the WRU can see he's bloody awful? Even the Key's coaching staff thought so ;-)

The defeat sees Pontypridd slip to 4th place in the table.
