Blues BB League: Pontypridd Youth (1) 22 - 3 Llantwit Major

Ponty welcomed Llantwit Major to Pontyclun for a division 2 League match after Sardis road had been deemed unplayable due to surface water. Ponty Youth were virtually at full strength for the first time this season, with only Props James Sullivan and Dean Brown, Centre Rhys Lloyd, Flanker Ryan Owen and wings Aaron Steverson and Lewis Williams unavailable. This was only the third league game of the Season for youth 1 with their other 5 scheduled league games being cancelled due to the weather, so Ponty were keen to start clawing back some points on the teams above them.

Despite disappointment for our senior squad in recent matches, our junior teams remain successful with another excellent result over the weekend for the under 12’s!

UNDER 12’s Glamorgan Wanderers 0 - 49 Pontypridd

TRY Scorers: Callum Ireland (2), Dillon Lewis (2), Adam Baker (2), Connaugh Davies, Jack Healy and Kyler Llewellyn.

Harry Walton and Adam Baker Converted one try each.

There were two Man of the Matches Awards: Connor Jones for his good work in the forward pack and Callum Ireland for his outstanding work and support in the backs!

A Fan from Chicago - will he be back?

The packed Sardis Road and festive atmosphere was marred by a horrible game. Cardiff kicked our backsides quite convincingly, even after playing nearly half of the match one man down. There was no pace, direction nor tactics employed, and quite honestly, the 13 point defecit could have been 23. 

It's a shame as there was obviously a hige turnout for a local "derby" that usually is full of spark and flair. But all the flair came from the Cardiff end, much to the dissapointment of the Sardis faithfull. If ever there was a match needed to bring back some of those who have deserted Pontypridd RFC over the recent years, this was one.  Fans from far as Chicago came to watch what should have been a close victory on home turf. 

But S4C's coverage of the game once again hex'd Ponty's chances (memories of the Konica Minolta Semi last year come flooding back). 

There needs to be some sort of serious tactics overhaul in the Pontypridd dressing room if we are ever hoping to rise to a top 3 position, let alone win the league. Unless we have Cup ambitions...you never know.
